Panorama Glass Lodge

Hidden within the Icelandic wilderness of Hella is Panorama Glass Lodge; a retreat in which four glass lodges sit in solitude, offering guests a chance to truly disconnect from the real world and attune to nature.

Honeymooners aching for something a little different to the all-inclusive, two-week cliche of a Maldivian getaway should take a look at this snowy stay.

Granted, it may be a little colder, but Panorama Glass Lodge is just as romantic as its South Asian competitor. Found an 1 hour and 40 minutes east of Iceland’s capital Reykjavík, the retreat is nestled within the tranquil town of Hella; a place better known for its jaw-dropping natural wonders including the iconic Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

Set within an expansive 50,000 sq. m of unmatched Icelandic scenery, Panorama Glass Lodge consists of four self-catering stays. Distinguished merely by name, the quadruplets feature the same amenities within identical Scandi-inspired cocoons of timber and glass.

Envisioned to bring inhabitants closer to nature, glazing plays a main role in the design that ensures the landscape is not only seen at all time, but also felt. Part of this glass symphony includes an impressive transparent ceiling, the first of its kind in Iceland, which allows couples to sleep beneath the stars and perhaps, if luck prevails, the northern lights.

Despite this unwavering commitment from founders Sabrina and Andreas Dedler to place nature at the core of Panorama Glass Lodge’s concept, the entrepreneurial duo has also made sure that this has been at no sacrifice to luxury. Within in your cabin you’ll find a Nespresso machine for that early morning cuppa, refillable toiletries from Sóley Organics and a hot-tub for romantic evenings under moonlight.

And fear not, your insta-worthy snaps of the Hekla volcano on the horizon can be uploaded instantly with thanks to WiFi in each lodge.

What we love most though is the sense of privacy and seclusion that reigns at this unique retreat. Rather than a shared resort experience, each stay feels entirely individual and as though it is the only one on site. There’s no staff, no reception, the lodge is yours and yours only. Even the shared glass sauna has a timetable to ensure the privacy of each guest is maintained.

If you decide that Panorama Glass Lodge is the perfect destination to spend a week unwinding after your big day, make sure to fit in some time to discover the south coast of Iceland within your schedule of rejuvenation and relaxation. The golden circle, Vík, Landmannalaugar and black sand beach are all only a short distance away.

Iceland is undeniably beautiful all year round, but if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the northern lights you need to look at booking for the winter season. Likewise, if the morning sun is what you’re after, stick to the summer months.

Prices starts from €460 a night.

Panorama Glass Lodge is currently booked until March 2022, head online to book the next available slot.
