When we think of destination weddings, all too often visions of golden sanded aisles lined by linen-clad guests and a bride in a floaty chiffon number spring to mind. But when you look at a venue like Kimo Estate, it’s clear to see we’re missing a trick.
In fact Kimo Estate is just one of a whole wealth of international wedding hotspots that, granted, may not guarantee trusty Caribbean heat and sunshine, but do promise brides and grooms a day to remember in the most beautiful of locations across the globe.
We’ll be honest, Kimo Estate is certainly no short haul…in fact from the UK it will take you and your wedding party just under 24 hours to arrive. But, to take your vows under the trees of Australia’s idyllic farmland, every hour you spend sat in the clouds is worth it – we promise.
Designed to bring visions of a rustic wedding to life, the Kimo Estate spreads across 4 of 7,000 picturesque acres of a sheep and cattle farm near Gundagai and will accommodate your day from start to finish.
Let’s start at the beginning. As the schedule for the day is set in motion and the ceremony looms, guests take a seat within a scene of flora and fauna before watching you or the bride make their way down the green aisle.
Once the ‘I do’s’ are signed, sealed and delivered, your wedding party can then mingle in the garden with a glass of bubbly in one hand and a canapé in the other. Lawn games are at hand for entertainment and drinks stations are well stocked to keep your guests…hydrated(!) while you and your new husband make the most of photo opportunities within the grounds.
With vows and photos ticked off the list, the grain shed doors will then swing open and the party can truly begin. Built in 1905, this wonderfully rustic timber barn boasts cathedral ceilings and enough space for up to 200 seated guests to enjoy the wedding breakfast.
And as you dance into the night following speeches from your nearest and dearest, you need not worry about that taxi ride back to the hotel. Kimo Estate can house up to 32 of your guests in accommodation ranging from off-grid eco huts to the shearer’s quarters. The latter of which is in fact the perfect bolthole for larger groups…or even an after party!
Now organising a day like this from 10,000 miles away is no easy task. But Kimo Estate will take care of everything. Their team of professionals will look after you from the initial planning stages all the way through to the end of your day.
And, to make your job even easier, they have a whole listed of recommended local suppliers who you can trust to make your day run as smoothly as possible. It’s a destination wedding made easy! And after making your way down under, just remember you have a number of awe-inspiring routes for your honeymoon…from exploring the Great Barrier Reef hand in hand to a road trip down the Great Ocean Road.
