Hedsor House is one of Buckinghamshire’s most sought-after wedding venues and party pads, and it’s not hard to see why. Oozing English country charm in absolute dollops, this 12th century build beckons the brides, grooms and hosts who are craving a touch of manor magic without the dire, dusty halls of something Saltburn-esque.
Adding to its already esteemed package – one that has wooed the likes of Mark Ronson who famously held a lavish birthday bash within the grasp of this Georgian estate – family-owned Hedsor House has just revealed new interior imaginings to ten of its guest rooms.
With Russell Sage Studio at the helm of the re-design, the interior project comes as part of the Shephard family’s decade-long masterplan to elevate the interior offerings of Hedsor House.
Rooted with a history dating back to the 12th century, Hedsor House had much to offer when it came to inspiration for the interior designers. “We so enjoyed being welcomed to the wonderful world of Hedsor House and being made part of the family, it truly is a magical place, rich in stories to be told,” says Russell Sage Studio.
And throughout the new rooms, stories they do tell.
Each of the ten rooms stand alone, individually curated and brought to life with a distinctive palette of tones and textures as inspired by the narratives and notions of “history, travel and enduring love”.
Take Capri for example. Guided by the honeymoon destination of one of the Shephard brothers, the suite moves between a Mediterranean palette of cobalts and whites, while sandy mustard accents are thrown in for good measure. More obviously, coral frames hang beneath a hand-painted scalloped detail that only adds to the fluidity of the space.
Meanwhile, in the Skye suite, tufts of faux fur, wall-hung timber crafts and trunked Morris & Co wallpaper whisk you away to the Scottish Isle of Skye – another honeymoon venture of the Shephard clan.
Then, heading down the corridor, a more biographic approach was employed in the D’Arcy, Boston and Lily rooms. Honouring residents of times gone by, each of these decadent spaces take on the characters of those who inspired them.
Looking back to 1925, the then owner of Hedsor House was the famous racing driver D’Arcy Baker. Doubling up as the MD of Fiat, this Hedsor predecessor inspires a room that the automobile enthusiasts will fight over, as motoring memorabilia and Fiat mentions trickle down the walls.
Despite unique appearances, a common thread of relaxed luxury ties all ten rooms together. After all, Hedsor is, at its core, a family home. So the rooms tread a line of being swanky yet still snug. They are grand but not glam. They are premium but not so posh that you feel as though you can’t sit back and relax.
Commenting on the revival, Mark Shephard – Hedsor House Managing Director – shares, “this is a milestone moment for us, marking ten years since my brothers and I transformed the house and continuing the engaging storytelling for which we are known and – I believe – loved.”
Found only 40 minutes from London, rooms at Hedsor House are available by exclusive hire only. So whether you’re looking for a wedding venue with rooms for guests to stay the night, or are in need of somewhere unique for a big birthday, at Hedsor House you will be well and truly spoiled for room choice.
On top of ten newly refurbished rooms, you also have the Lavinia Suite (recommended for the bride and groom) and Alexandra and Florence from which to use.
