Refusing to conform to London’s concrete cliché, Pitzhanger Manor revels in countryside charisma. Entrenched in a history and grandeur that will leave Bridgerton fans weak at the knees, it is with little surprise that the Grade I listed building has set the scene for a number of city weddings. More recently, its alumni has included Jenny Lane of Juno Weddings – the wedding planning wonder who was at the helm of this utterly romantic editorial.
Though the Pitzhanger offers a total of seven spaces in which couples can organise their day (peruse the full list here), the shoot is set within the more opulent and traditional nooks of the manor; the Upper Drawing Room and Georgian Eating Room. Rather than competing with the grandiosity of this duo – where sumptuous Chinese silk wallpaper crawls up the walls and statues watch on from the sidelines dutifully – Jenny took a more reserved approach to the styling. “I wanted to showcase all of the manor’s beautiful details,” she muses.
Matching the regality that oozes from every embellished inch of the Pitzhanger, the dress – a strapless, hand-sewn, crystal encrusted, princess-style, tulle masterpiece – is surely the showstopper here. “I used an amazing dress by new designer Biel Bride who are a London based, sister-led business. They used over 350m of tulle, which was all hand-sewn. Biel Bride also supplied handmade hair accessories too, which paired perfectly with the pearl wedding shoes by Diane Hassall.”
Complementary jewel-tones and luxury detailing thrive throughout the scheme, from the elaborate floral arrangements (with stems inspiring the bride’s lip colour – a nice touch) to the rented tableware which offers a fitting vintage edge to the styling.
“Using local, native flowers from the UK with stunning crockery from Maison Margaux meant the styling was both opulent and eco. High end jewellery was also used to complement the surrounds and the dress,” says Jenny.
There’s no denying that the archival extravagance that the Pitzhanger wallows in is no easy setting to style. But, by listening to and respecting the stories of its past, Jenny of Juno Weddings has transformed this historical cocoon into an elegant scene peppered with just the right amount of drama for a day to remember.
